Menopause WILL affect your business - it's time for understanding and support. It's time to learn!

Women of menopausal age are the fastest growing working demographic , 8 out of 10 women in the menopause are employed, that's 7 million women aged 40-60  so, given that menopause has a 100% hit rate, it's going to affect your business. It's not just a female thing, it's most definitely a business thing.

Supporting women through menopause at work is not just good business practice it’s also a matter of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Companies that prioritise the health and well-being of their female employees by offering menopause support demonstrate their commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social responsibility.

Line managers from different demographics or generations can not be expected to be familiar with the impact of menopausal symptoms without training and guidance.

It starts with awareness and knowledge.

Businesses are losing their employees, it is a fact!

  • 25% women have considered leaving work due to menopausal symptoms

  • 19% haven’t taken a promotion

  • 12% have cut their hours

  • 11% have left all together

With women representing a significant portion of the workforce, companies need to be inclusive and provide support for women experiencing menopause. Last year, an estimated 68 billion euros in collective annual loss of earnings were estimated in Australia from menopausal employees.

Be THE company that has a menopause support policy - Empower Your Workforce, Support Women in Midlife

A mere 1 in 10 organisations in the UK  currently has a menopause policy and 1 in 2 in Australia....

Business owners want to retain and attract new talent in a changing work environment so having menopause support at work is crucial. Best practice should require all workplaces to train line managers to recognise the symptoms and engender a business culture that encourages and supports team members through all stages of menopause.

The EU commission has discussed the topic, and the outcome was stated as "Limiting menopause to a medical and private sphere and the failure to address menopause as a workplace issue is increasingly leading to insufficient protection of female workers and the early exit of women from labour markets, and thereby increase the risk of women’s economic dependence, poverty and social exclusion, contribute to the loss of women's knowledge, skills and experience, and lead to significant economic losses" ( Euronews) Implying that any policy is still in the works. "So far, there is no EU-wide data collection on this issue" said EU Commissioner for Equality Helena Dally.

‘I just wanted to say a big thank you for the menopause session you ran for our staff on Tuesday. Feedback has been really positive and it is a really great thing for us to be involved in from a school community point of view’
— James Petrie, Head of BSB.
