Women only strength training in Sitges

Strength training for women over 40, made fun, social and built around you

Entrenador personal en Sitges para mujeres

Strength training is one of the very best things you can do for your body through perimenopause, menopause and beyond, and it really doesn't have to feel intimidating, lonely or complicated. Every class and every session I run is for women only, so you can learn, laugh and lift in a space where everyone understands exactly what this stage of life feels like.

Whether you love the buzz of training alongside other women or you would rather have my full attention as your personal trainer in Sitges, there is a way to train with me that fits around your life and leaves you feeling stronger every single week.

Women only group strength classes

  • One hour
  • Outdoors
  • Women only
  • No experience needed
  • Fun and social

My small group strength classes are where the magic happens, as a lovely bunch of women turn up, have a good laugh, lift some weights and leave feeling a whole lot better than when they arrived. Each class lasts an hour and takes place outdoors at Can Pei in the Sitges sunshine, so you get fresh air alongside your squats and rows, which is a pretty good deal if you ask me.

You don't need any experience at all, since I'll show you every movement, adapt everything to suit your body and make sure you feel confident from your very first session. What keeps women coming back week after week is the community, as we cheer each other on, share the ups and downs of this stage of life and often carry on chatting long after the weights have been put away.

Classes run on Tuesdays and Fridays at 09.15.

Why strength training is non negotiable for women over 40

From our thirties onwards we quietly start to lose muscle, and as oestrogen falls through perimenopause and menopause that loss speeds up, taking our strength, our metabolism and our bones along with it. The good news is that lifting weights is one of the most powerful tools we have to turn this around, at any age and from any starting point.

1

Protect your muscle

We can lose around 3 to 8% of our muscle mass every decade from the age of 30, and falling oestrogen speeds this up, which is why so many women notice everyday things like carrying the shopping or climbing stairs feeling harder in their forties and fifties. Strength training is the most effective way to hold on to the muscle you have and build more of it.

2

Protect your bones

Women can lose up to 20% of their bone density in the first five to seven years after menopause, so the time to act is right now rather than someday. Lifting progressively heavier weights puts healthy stress on your bones, and research shows it can slow bone loss and even improve bone density in postmenopausal women.

3

Feel like yourself again

Stronger muscles support your joints, improve your balance and help with the weight that likes to settle around the middle in midlife, so many women find they feel more energised, more confident and far more like themselves again.

What women say about training with me

Women smiling after an outdoor strength class at Can Pei, Sitges
I have been doing PT with Charlotte for over a year and I feel stronger, more confident and definitely have more energy. She pushes me harder than I would do alone but she knows my limits. She is very engaging and energetic and I know I wouldn't feel this good without her guidance.

I have made some great friends in the group class and our community goes beyond the workouts.

I go to group class once a week and do PT once a week. I love the combination and I love the community. Charlotte is REALLY good at what she does and is very supportive of us menopause ladies, she hears a lot of moaning but always listens, advises and cheer leads us on. Thankyou Charlotte!

I really enjoy my PT sessions. I've learnt to use all sorts of weights and have increased my chest press from an initial 14kg to 28kg so am very happy.

Your questions about strength training in Sitges

Is strength training safe for women over 40?

Yes, strength training is safe and hugely beneficial for women over 40 when it is taught well and progressed sensibly, which is exactly why I start every woman at her own level, coach every movement and adapt exercises around any niggles or injuries.

Will lifting weights make me bulky?

Lifting weights won't make you bulky, since women build muscle slowly and gradually, so what you'll actually notice is a firmer, stronger body, better posture and clothes that fit a little better.

I've never lifted weights before, can I still join?

Absolutely, as plenty of the women I train had never picked up a barbell before they started, and I'll teach you everything step by step so you feel confident from your very first session.

How often should women over 40 do strength training?

Two to three sessions a week is a brilliant target for women over 40, and my Tuesday and Friday classes give you two of those, with personal training or a simple home plan easily filling in the third if you'd like it.

Can strength training help with menopause weight gain and belly fat?

Strength training helps you build and keep muscle, which supports your metabolism and how your body handles blood sugar, so alongside good nutrition it's one of the most effective ways to manage the midsection weight gain that so many women notice during menopause.

Are the classes really women only?

Yes, every group class and personal training session is for women only, which means you can train in a relaxed, friendly space with women who know exactly what you're going through.

Do you offer personal training in English in Sitges?

Yes, I'm a British personal trainer, nutritionist and menopause coach based in Sitges, and I coach in English, Spanish and French, which makes training with me easy whether you've lived here all your life or have only just arrived.

Where do the classes take place?

Group classes take place outdoors at Can Pei in Sitges, and personal training sessions take place at my private studio in Sitges.
